And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
II Corinthians 5:15 &16
Jesus...the perfect example of giving it all up and dying...only to take up the part of Him that was eternal in His new body as an example for all. So we don't live unto ourselves...whether that is being so pious we don't need Him or whether it's being so sure we can never be forgiven we never ask...so we eventually don't think of ourselves at all because our minds are so transfixed on Him instead.
We don't know Him after the flesh anymore...flesh can't recognize him.
