Go Girl Triathlon

I remembered enough of the good and forgot most of the bad...so I gave it another go this year.  The swim was much more doable the second time...no hyperventilating even though I drank a bit of the lake.  The only downer was L and the boys couldn't come...I really missed my fan club-seriously-it's the best part.
if you are interested in this race, it's every year in August.

That looks like a lot of fun!

Go Ann! You rock - especially as a mom of five!! I would LOVE to do this, but the hardest part for me would be the swim - is it really hard to train yourself to swim, let alone in a lake??

Ann-- no way! I did this too! Such a bummer that we didn't run into each other!

WHAT!? There weren't THAT many people there...though I was wearing sunglasses and a hat for the bike and run. ;) Totally undercover really. Next year, lets meet before the race if you do it again b/c Luke couldn't be there with the boys and it would have been WAY more fun seeing someone I knew/liked so much as you.

Way to go Ann! That's great and your time was great! :) Abbie & Emily & I are doing one Sept 17th near Akron, OH. Your post made me get more excited for it! Do you have any tips to share? (this is our 1st outdoor tri)

Hey Marcy! Best wishes on your race! =) I think the outdoor tri events are so fun. I don't feel like I can give much advice on improving your time because I haven't really kicked it into high gear that well myself (my time was pretty much the same as last year). ;) I did improve my swim time and that was my one goal. I swam for 40 min sessions at our local Y whenever I could. I got better goggles too (aquasphere) that look more like a snorkel mask. You can't see much when you put your face into lake water anyway, but they are comfortable and you can see a foot or hand headed your way easier underwater. I also swam to the side (not too far) of the other swimmers instead of swimming in the middle of the group in the beeline to the finish because I swim better if I'm not crowded. I don't think I'll be able to improve my bike time much until I get a road bike...I road a mountain bike this year and stood out in the crowd for sure...for all the wrong reasons. My brakes even squeaked. HA =)

Pre-register if possible so you can sleep in a little (if the race is in the morning). This may be more important to me because Will is still under 6 months though.

Again, best wishes and enjoy the experience.

Thanks Ann! I probably won't know how to improve my time until once I've done one so I'm not going to stress too much there. I do appreciate your input on the goggles & where to swim..that part makes me the most nervous. The bike part will be interesting..someone put a bell (yes a bell) on my road bike - I told Mark that needs to go before then!!
