This is my favorite play dough to make at home with the boys...I wanted to share it with you all. You need: 1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 2 tsp. cream of tarter 1 cup water 1 Tbs vegetable oil Food coloring First- Combine flour, salt, and cream of tarter in a saucepan. In a bowl, put water, oil and food coloring. Gradually stir wet ingredients into the dry ones until mixture is smooth. Second- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until a ball forms. Remove from stove and cool. (Make sure you scrape the bottom of the pan with a sturdy spoon because it gets hard on the bottom first. Also, it doesn't need to cool very long...maybe 5 min or something, it's easier to knead when it's still warm and soft) Last- Have your child knead the play dough until smooth. Then have a blast with cookie cutters and butter knives...anything they don't normally get to play with. My boys like to smash it on top of little cars for example. =o) Store in an airtight container for up to four months. Don't forget to make other colors after the first success. =o)
